Yaman Zee

Yaman Zee started his musical journey as a teenager in Hamburg, performing in punk rock bands where he wrote songs and sang. Over time, he gravitated toward experimental rock, focusing on guitar and drums. Early on, he started recording his own tracks using GarageBand and a multitrack recorder, developing a DIY approach to sound.

While studying Arts & Media in Vienna, he discovered electronic music and became involved in the club culture. From 2017 to 2022, he produced club tracks, DJed mainly in Istanbul and Vienna, and organised his own Events.

Over time, he became tired of the surface-level aspects of nightlife and shift his attention to music production. He started working as a sound designer on various projects, creating mainly minimal and abstract soundscapes.

In 2023, he launched Aboutdeath, a personal music project rooted in ambient, lo-fi, and down-tempo styles - music that felt more honest and emotionally connected. That same year, he composed and recorded his first ambient concept album, From Future Past Lives (April 2023). The debut release, the EP Delivered, came out digitally in June 2024.

Yaman Zee draws deeply from his roots as a 90’s and early 2000s kid, blending a wide range of influences - from the raw emotion of post-rock, the melodic sensibility of indie-rock, to the experimental edge of avant-pop and the rhythm-driven textures of instrumental hip hop - shaping a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
